Any positives exporting DVD video (Standard definition) to MKV?

What are the alternatives if any?

I want to backup my collection for archive, protect against damage.

Other than Handbrake, any other software recommendations please.

If you use MakeMKV it'll preserve the chapters and the original quality of the video and audio stream . You'll be looking at 4-8GB per movie.

What are you playing it back on? If using something that supports it you can just rip the ISO and preserve menus audio streams etc. 4.7gb per DVD. Its quite nice being able to watch extras and such on xbmc.

It will be played back on a PC.

.ISO is the cleanest option, why did I not think of that - DOH. Thanks.
