Want to buy a Sapphire HD 5850. Is the rest of my set up alright - would like to run most if not all games on ultra or maxed settings - especially Modern Warefare 2 and Crysis.

Will being running on an LCD 32" TV 1366 x 768.
 
The rest of your system seems fine, if its the one in your sig. Running it on a 5850 is overkill though, as you're running at low resolution. A 4890 will be enough for that, or an nvidia GTX260 or equivalent. You only really need a powerful card like that if you're running at 1680x1050+.

*edit* could always OC your cpu to get a bit of a boost. That chip will manage over 3Ghz quite easily.
 
spending 250 quid on a gfx card for 720p gaming is silly IMO. I would get something like a 4890, 5770, or GTX 260.

And yes, overclock the GPU to 3.2ghz+
