Any practical DX9 vs DX10 comparisons?

The other day, I watched a DX10 features demo of Stalker Clear Skies. It struck me as nice enough, but I wonder how much difference those features make over the DX9 version. What I would really like to see is the same sequence done twice, once with DX9 and once with DX10, to get an idea of what DX10 is worth. And I'd like to know what the framerates were for each version, to get an idea of what it costs.

Does anybody know of a comparison like this, made with real games, including good quality video capture? Stills don't seem to tell the whole story.
 
crysis did quite a few comparision. Not sure though if both had max detail due to Crysis only allowing it on DX10 and not 9.
 
I don't think it's as clear as your original post to do comparisons.
You can look at screenshots of crysis high vs v.high.

I have heard that assassins creed runs faster on dx10 because of no extra enhancements to bog it down.


Basically from what I've read dx9 can do everything dx10 can but with an overhead that dx10 doesn't have but dx10 is still early days.

Crysis can do dx10 effects on dx9 with a hack.

I played bioshock and that had extra eye candy on with a dx10 card . I have a dx10 card I don't know what it was but it looked good on screen lol.

I think a lot of this dx10 is all about marketing and at the mo dx9 would have still sufficed with the faster cards out.

I am glad we have dx10 however because I don't think we would have had these fast dx10 cards out that can also play dx9 nice and fast.

I'm not anti dx10 . I have a dx10 card and welcome it but I don't think its the holy grail .

the main difference with directx 10 is shader model 4.0, which we hava yet to see much of.

the assassins creed performance boost was because they re-wrote the renderer to achieve the same calculations etc but with much less system calls.

the other main difference is the unified shader architecture - fairly self explanatory
