I currently have a 8800 gts 640, and 180 quid, give or take 15 pounds. And sorta curious what GPU I should buy. I don't particularly want a GT, but the new GTS's look good.

However I dunno what it's like for you guys, but as soon as I get new stuff, much better stuff comes out 2-3 days later thats almost the same price, that or the stuff i bought has 20 quid knocked off within a day.

i upgraded from a x2 athlon 3800 @ 2.2ghz, and 2g ddr, and a crappy old asrock dual sata 2.

to my new prosc, a 2.6 conroe then days later the new intel proscs arrive. I just wanna be sure I won't waste money in terms of GPU upgrades.

i'm not really an elitist, but i'm upgrading from a 640 beacause i sold it along with my old prosc/etc to a friend for 200.

You should be able to get £100 for your GTS, which would put you in 3870X2 territory.

Otherwise, the GT, GTS (G92), and GTX are all good cards.

Gibbo's already said in another thread that there will be no 8800 price drops.

Here you go :-

Hi there

Nope no price movements off 8800 series!

With nothing new coming in April/before, then theres no reason for them to drop the prices of em.

If you have to buy one right now, get the GT, not enough boost over that on the G92 GTS, and like Matthew says, Crysis is the only game that might give you a problem on a reasonable resolution for a long time anyway. Wait for the true next generation card, 8800GTX style.

ok thank you. ^^

native res atm is 1440x900, i might get another 2gb ram tho, dunno if it's worth it with a 32 bit os. could make things worse, possibly better, but not all will be recognised, so dunno yet.

The only change I can see happening on the 8800 range would possibly be a drop in the price of the Ultra, as it is so far beyond that of the gtx and indeed even the 3870x2.
