Got a question around multi-engine PPL rating. Is it really worth it as a PPL holder? Is it something to acquire when moving to multi engine or is it best just to get it done and dusted anyway?

If you’re going to be flying twins it’s worth it. Most private flyers don’t fly twins due to the significant extra cost for little extra tangible benefit. Do you have access to one at a good rate? When I did my MEP it was around £350 per hour for the aircraft alone. Whilst it was interesting and useful I wish I’d spent the money on another type of flying. I never kept it current due to cost and it became obsolete when the loss of my Class 1 brought to an end the journey to a fATPL.

No decent rates no, hence I'm thinking it might not be worth it unless I get lucky one day with the option of procuring (solo or with someone) a twin. I'll save the pennies for now then.

Really sorry to hear you lost your Class 1 Scuzi, does that mean you aren’t controlling any more either? Or do you still have your class 3? Either way that sucks though.

To the OP, I’m not sure I fully understand your question. Why do you want to fly MEP? Is it a stepping stone to something else? Or are you just keen to fly with 2 engines?

Generally MEP aren’t great value for money as Scuzi said they are very expensive for not much extra benefit. They are usually just a stepping stone to get ME IR so you have a fATPL.

Still have the EASA class 3 for controlling but the onset of a condition out of the blue struck me off for the Class 1 for life! Still absolutely fine and healthy but there is a very remote possibility I could become partially incapacitated with little notice. Manageable in an ATC centre with others around but not fine in the air, especially if single pilot.
