Hi guys,

Ok well in the process of installing a new hdd, i managed to kill my old 6 year old system drive. I figure now is a good time to upgrade to windows 7. Rather than pay £100 for a copy of professional, I was thinking of getting my friend in the US to get a student copy for like $50. I install using my houesmate's disk and use the code from my american friend.

Any problems with this? (my friend's disk is for professional).

Thanks
Mike

Doubt it. Are you a student? If so your Uni probably gives it you for free anyway.

I'd be very surprised if it didn't violate the t&c's. I'm guessing it's the upgrade version so technically you need a qualifying OS to upgrade from as well.

Will it work? Probably, depending on what media your friend has.
