any programs to set a custom CPU fan speed profile?

i installed my cooler this afternoon, and it is beautifully quiet compared to the standard one. however, there seems to be sod all change between idle and load fan RPM. at idle, the fan will be at 1300RPM, at load, the fan will be at 1400RPM.

is there any program i can use to reduce the unneccessarily high (but still really quiet) idle speed of the fan, while keeping the load speed the same?

It should be running 900 idle 1700 load.

Edit:

Looks like you may need to change the Q-Fan settings in your BIOS

also, i meant to say, i have the resistor cable attached, hence the possibly lower load speeds (which are still keeping it at ~50C under prime)

Resistor cable is for wussies ;)

or people who dont need the extra cooling performance and dont have a program to reduce the fan speed

every single review i read about the zalman says to use the resistor cable, because it makes it a tonne quieter for very little performance loss

Ive never really found a program to control the fans properly. You can force it sometimes

On my old asus board if you loaded an old monitor program it screwed the sensors to read 20c as the cpu temp hence lowering the fan speed massively. Reboot cleared it

OR you can sometimes toggle any qfan off in windows. So it'll switch to full speed and back again

Manual fan controller is your best bet

I have this but its crap. 3rd party utils cant cover all the varied motherboards I guess. Speedfan doesnt work for me
