Hi All

A workmate has just bought a GTiR and doesnt know much about them

Ive had a look through and sorted out a few bits n bobs, boost etc. However, I dont recognise some of the parts.

Sooooo.. pics here... any info appreciated!

From what I can see... it has a larger intercooler (i think), HKS Turbo, F-con and an HKS EVC. It also says 2.2 on the back, but im no expert and can confirm if its had the stroker kit or not.

Hmm it clearly has some gadgets, replacement ECU and turbo by the looks of things. The intercooler looks standard to me, the core should be around 45cm in length if it's standard.

Other than the strutbrace I cant see much in the engine bay, not even a DV/BOV although I would assume it has one.

Does it have no history then?

Personally I would ditch the aircon (it weighs 30kg!) and get a nice front mount on that. Considering the rest of the work it potentially has (2.2 kit) it would be suffering from using the TMIC unless it's an uprated ARC core.

Cheers

Its running 1.0 bar low and 1.2 bar high at the moment.

No history. The chap bought it without knowing much about it tbh.

Not me :)

That's an ancient F-Con too, ideally it would need to be mapped for UK fuel. Good luck getting it mapped, not many tuners map the F-Con, especially a dinosour like that one.

I'd ditch that and replace it with a Power FC and get it mapped for UK fuel.

Does the fitting of a FMIC require the air con to go?

Are you sure the turbo has been changed? Looks very much like the OE garret one from what little I can see of it. In the pic of the close up of the filter - under the AC pipe is that an old HKS DV? Think thats the one I always wanted because cars fitted eith that one always seemed to make that fluttery noise - never managed to get my scoob to do it (My R would only do it when dumping low boost)

As for the 2.2 bit, I'd be amazed if someone spent all that cash on a stroker kit and stopped at the I/C - still not convinced the turbo is aftermarket either but could be wrong.

Are the shocks aftermarket items? Look adjustable from the top?

If you don't mind me asking do you know how much your mate paid?

EDIT - Actually looking at the turbo, does it say HKS on the housing???

Intercooler has "JAM" stickers on it... that mean much?

That's a tuning company iirc, however it doesnt say that on the IC, just the IC surround.

You can keep the aircon and get a FMIC, however it's much easier if you lose it!

I know Abbey maps F-Cons

I'm sure they only map the newer F-Con Pro, AFAIK the old F-Con like the one on that Pulsar is notoriously difficult to find a mapper who can and will touch it.

I never had any problems with misted windows in mine. It's a rally car, you dont need poncy aircon! :)

Agreed :D
Unless you live down here :(
But if i ever get a rally car that i use for rallying its going to have more removed then just an air con
