Any reason not to enable Virtual Super Resolution?

I've recently got a 390, and have been looking at a few driver options, and have been looking at VSR.

As I understand it, enabling it just gives you the option of selecting a higher resolution than your monitor, and it downscales that to fit your monitors resolution ?
Or is it automatically rendering at higher resolution even without changing in-game settings?

Is there any reason not to enable it in the drivers, if all it's doing is giving you extra options in-game?

I think it actually goes to 60hz.

No he is correct, you can select 100Hz on certain resolutions above 1080p (forget which one it is). Just been testing it out.
