Just out of curiosity, what would be the main benefits of upgrading to a newer/better CPU for me?

I currently have a i5 3570k which I can overclock to about 4.5ghz or just under easy enough.

What do you mainly use your PC for? Whether or not you'll benefit much from upgrading your CPU depends on what your usage case is. For gaming, that 3570K is still plenty capable. For video editing and CAD work though, a CPU upgrade may well speed up your workflow quite a lot.

Well I mainly use it for gaming with the odd gaming video being thrown together in Sony Vegas or similar program.

I was just curious overall to see if there was much of an improvement between then and now seeing as the 3570k is 4 years old at this stage.

Like others mentioned, unless you are daily using demanding programs that would greatly benefit from hyperthreading then upgrade, otherwise your pcu has plenty of power
