Any reasonably devout Catholic's on this forum?

The clue is in the title Serious Discussion. Religion is a valid topic for serious discussion as has been pointed out on various occasions by the Dons.

The title of what is Serious Discussion? SC is Speaker's Corner with a description of "Intelligent debate of newsworthy issues". I'm sure no-one will mind a serious discussion of religion and philospohy there, but why can't we have one here? We have new rules about religious threads for GD and SC now, if the lolreligiontards are stupid enough to ignore them, then that's their problem. IMO they shouldn't be appeased.

I'm technically Catholic, but saw the 'religion is BS' light a long time a go. However, I'm sure the BS brainwashing is locked away in my brain somewhere so I may be able to answer the question, what was it?

Cool. I'm going to go out now to try and collect a parcel that Royal Mail said they tried to deliver . Will send a few of you trust messages after I'm back in 10 mins.

Thanks.

Technically a Christian here. Was baptised and all that stuff. Think most of it is bull, and I can't believe priests/people who give their life to god, when they go against what they say.

Feel free to ask me anything through trust :D

'I'm technically a christian, but don't believe' makes no sense at all.

technically, you can't be a christian if you dont believe...

I didn't say Christian, I said Catholic. And I meant 'technically' as in I was baptised, confirmed and schooled in Catholic schools.

i still dont get this whole catholic protestant thing. And no one who claims to be one or the other can explain it to me either. just what is the difference?

Christians are just as good. I'm a bad Catholic in that I can appreciate a few divergences on some issues. :p

Sending messages now. :)

Without going to far into it, think of them as two 'teams' playing the same 'game' (Christianity) but on different 'sides'.

To bring Islam into it, in Christianity Jesus is the centre forward, but in Islam he's the right winger, with Mohammed as the CF :D

There are many differences.

But equally, they probably only affect about 5% of the things we believe in...
