Any reasonably devout Catholic's on this forum?

Yea, its so much worse. They touch little boys and tell Africans that using condoms is ineffective at preventing HIV infection.

You won't get any arguments from me there, I hate all religions equally ;)

Luckily, I was never an alter boy :D

Still, implying that all Catholics are paedophiles is no different to saying all Muslim Asians are terrorists, no?

Garp is, if he's still around, but he's one of the clued-up ones.

What are your questions?

You won't find impartial devout anything though, impartiality comes from being down the middle (agnosticism).

I didn't think Garp was catholic just evangelistic CofE clap yer hands for Jesus type. Either way his is living in Hawaii with his missus now.

I think you'll find that in recent years, members of all denominations have been prosecuted for child abuse, including those who say they have no religion such as Agnostics and Athiests.

Well, before anyone tries to tell me that Athieism is not a religion, Dawkins certainly comes across as the High Priest with a fervour that would match the Wee Free's.

Whilst it is true that all faiths (and those without faith) have been guilty of crimes against children the problem with the Catholic church was that they decided to try and hide it and cover up the problem. This allowed some priests to continue abusing children for much longer, this is the real crime of the Church, those children abused by priests who had been moved rather than face prosecution.

my family are all irish catholics, which are about as catholic as you can get... having to go to confession for missing church cos u were ill in bed with flu?? lol

I'd be interested to know more about what you think about the Wee Free's - all I really know about them is that they only just allowed hymns (or was it psalms?) during their services. Are they quite widespread in Scotland or just in one area?

The "Wee Frees" tend to be mostly in the Highlands and the Western Isles so relatively limited in scope, there may be branches wider out but that's the core base for them.

As for the original question spudbynight is Catholic and may be happy to answer your questions if Castiel hasn't already answered to your satisfaction.

Sorry, I misunderstood your use of techincally, since you didnt use it to mean what technically means. My bad.

tech·ni·cal·ly/ˈteknik(ə)lē/
Adverb:
According to the facts or exact meaning of something; strictly:

I was baptised, confirmed and schooled in Catholic schools. I was brought up as Catholic. So yes, I am 'technically' Catholic.

I married a Catholic which is enough to get counted as one in some circles. :D

Cant think Catholic without thinking about crimes against humanity, extreme ignorance and the rape of children.
But hey, they also do some good I've heard
