Any recommendations for online multiplayer cross platform Mac & PC games?

I have a PC and my relative has a Macbook and I'm trying to find a few fun games we can play online together.

I bought Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars for Christmas but it turns out it's nearly impossible to get running on a modern macbook now

I've been looking through the steam catalogue to find any cross platform multiplayer games but I'm not sure the results are accurate. As it doesn't list Portal 2, but I'm pretty sure you can

Anyone got any other good suggestions of stuff I could try in the steam sale or non Steam games? :)

WoW, SC2, SupCom2, Portal 2 is fine, any of the valve/steamworks multiplayer games are fine. Just about any modern multiplayer game released on both platforms is compatible, you just need to look out for the exceptions (I think Borderlands 2 still uses seperate systems on each platform)

some suggestions :
Owned :
Team Fortress 2
Dungeon Defenders
Trine / Trine 2
Jamestown
A Virus Named TOM
Cortex Command

Not Owned / played :
Starbound
Castle Crashers
The Cave

also have you considered the lego games? they have local co-op
Rayman® Origins

not on steam but Minecraft / + mods

Disclamer i've not tried these wth a mac system as i dont own one so appologies. i am making the assumption your self and your relative are not in the same location, but ont he off chance i've included local co-op

Thanks for the suggestions :)

I think I'm going to go with Portal 2, Trine 2, Altitude and Hedgewars for now to see how we get on.

Borderlands 2 would have been cool, but I'm not sure their macbook would have been able to handle it anyway.

Really annoyed with myself - I just went to buy them a copy of the Valve complete pack as it was £10 with a code earlier and now it's expired, doh! Ahh well. The rest will keep us going for a while.

The lego series could be a good call, will check that out too :)
