Any room for speed increase?

I'm currently staying in Cornwall at the grandparents, and the internet is very slow! Downloading a 6GB Steam game took 8 hours  :(

The exchange is some 4.5 miles away by car, so it's never going to be great, but I'm hoping there will be some room for improvement if I rang the ISP perhaps? Here are the stats:

Both of the noise margins are very high, so there could be room for improvement.

If you Google 'adsl speed calculator' you should find links to sites where you can enter your router stats and get an estimated maximum speed. Most of them seem to think it should be possible to at least double the current speed.

As above but also you may find those figures vary with the time of day. 14 dB is very high for an everyday Noise margin but you could find this drops significantly in the wet, or when it gets colder. Typically a line will become unstable around the 3 dB mark, where the modem will struggle to see the ADSL signal amongst the noise.

Worth a try in my opinion.

I think with a 9db margin you could push for 1.5mb, but not much more, as you know your line is very long.

Thanks for the advice. I've noticed a date in March has been set for FTTC, I'm wondering what kind of speeds could be expected with that over such a distance?

FTTC isn't as affected by distance as there's cabinets along the way. You'd probably be looking at 30+ Mb if you're able to get it.
