Right having some real grief with the reporting in this.

When I try to run report viewer I get this message

Server object error 'ASP 0178 : 80070005'

Server.CreateObject Access Error

The call to Server.Create.Object failed while checking permissions. Access denied to this object

I have tried some stuff on the web relating to permissions but it doesn't seem to help, any ideas?

Have overcome that initial problem now, it was DCOM Security

New problem though, any report that I try and run i get this error:

Report xxx is unavailable. Either you do not have permission to view the report or the report doesn not exist

First thing to check, what user account are you using to try and access the reports?

Are they in either the SMS Admins or SMS Reports/Reporting (forget the exact wording) local group on your SCCM server?

Fixed it last thing last night, I had to set IIS to use the admin account for the reporting site and it started working.

Next problem I have...

The client push install seems to install the client but when you look on a client PC it doesn't have any of the configuration settings that I specifed, nor does it show up in the collections as having the client installed

any ideas on that one?

Is it picking up the site code successfully? If you go into control panel on the client and go into the configuration manager settings has it picked up everything? Initiate a machine policy refresh from this window and see if that picks things up.

On your site server what is your heartbeat discovery period set to?

I gOt there in the end, by cheating a bit

I used my logon script to install the client and specified the management point server and SLP

It looked like it couldn't detect find the management point because I hadn't extended my AD schema which I didn't want to do as I am only testing at the moment

Being the sad person I am I thought about it again whilst trying to get to sleep and thought 'I wonder if he's extended the schema' lol :p

Yeah if you don't extend the schema you need to use an SLP as AD doesn't know about your servers.

Although tbh just extend the schema :)

Keep meaning to book up the exam for this as I've done the course and been an SMS person for what feels like donkeys years now, but jsut can't be arsed as the test centre is a ball ache to get to lol.
