Any sign of 8GB dimms?

Simple question - anyone know anything about the likely arrival time en-masse of 8GB DDR3 1600 or faster?

I'm currently running 12 gig - 8 is quite definitely insufficient, and next time I replace my CPU/motherboard I want to move to 16. Would be lovely if I can pack the whole rig into an mITX box, but that rather depends on whether I can get hold of 2x8 gig of decent memory. All that's flapping around at the mo is kingston value 1333, and it's very expensive for what it is :(

Cheers for any info!

I shouldn't hold out for any reasonably priced ones any time soon.

Cheapest I can see is around £170 for 2x8GB of 1333MHz DDR3.

To be on a par with 4GB sticks you're looking at them needing to halve in price and get faster.

Just out of curiosity how is your 12GB made up?

3x4GB would screw up dual channel operation but 2x4GB + 2x2GB should be OK.

4GB sticks have just come into reasonable consideration, I think you'll be waiting a while for 8GB sticks for similar GB/£. MATX with 4 slots (4x4GB) is a good compromise imo

2x4 and 2x2 indeed - hence at the mo it's nice and cheap to swap the 2s for 4s if that's the smart thing to do :)

Probably true actually. Are we waiting for a process shrink to generate sensibly priced 8GB modules?
