on ATi cards? (5770)?

i've heard something about win7 offering GPU encoding to transcode vids for ipod/zune or something.

I'm encoding some HD vids off my camcorder and need something to speed it up.

tried that on the 4000 series and it's crap. hardly any options and won't support avs scripts which means its useless personally. i need to deinterlace my video and add some filters (via avi synth) since the cam i have encodes as interlaced. only TFF but still.

i've just read up on powerdirector - anyone used that?

ahh, but it's a HD source so i'm encoding to AVC video :)

converting to DVD would be a major quality loss :o

The only software I've used that uses your video card to speed things up is MediaShow Espresso. TBH though I'm not that impressed. It has a very basic UI & not many options to play around with.

tried it. no options really. quality was also poop 13mbit (fixed - wtf!) and it's blocky.
