Need to find a really nice spa break for a long weekend - want somewhere with a really nice hotel, with all the spa type stuff (massage, treatments, etc), needs to be in the UK.

Been to plenty of decent hotels, but never to one specifically for a spa weekend which is what I want this time - emphasis on relaxation. If only they had something like Icelands Blue Lagoon in the UK!

No that's not too far - thanks for the link, I'll check it out. It's for my wife who is recovering from been ill recently, figured a nice relaxing spa weekend would be good.

EDIT - it looks very nice but was hoping for somewhere with a hotel, spa and nice restaurant all in one place - like a country home or something. Not interested in London, want to relax!

Hmm I have a book at home on Spas and places of relaxation around the world. I'll see what it says about the UK later..

Thanks! :)

cotswold water park - only opened last August and is amazing!!!

It looks really cool (I did consider Centerparcs for a while), but a bit too active for my wife after being ill - want something where the emphasis is on relaxation, stress free, quiet, rest etc.

That looks like it may have been the place actually.

edit: £500/night. It must be the place I was thinking about

What about
http://www.seaham-hall.com/
Not far from me. It's near Sunderland.

Wow, that place looks incredible! I'd love to go there, but it's £400 just for the room for 2 nights, then add all the treatments on and it's serious money! The place just screams luxury.

EDIT - just read some of the reviews on Trip Advisor - seems the place looks a lot better in the brochures than in real life. Some of the reviews are very uncomplimentary about the place. Too much of a risk to take considered the price and the distance.

It occurred to me that I'd not updated with my suggestions... now recified!

The book is "Body & Soul Escapes". Woo.. just found my Italianissimo CD I was looking for.. I used it as a bookmark from the last post!

There's lots of "spa" places around the UK..here's a selection:

Careys Manor Hotel & Spa. £178/night but specialises in Thai. Near the Nw Forest.

Grayshott. £180/night. Hindhead Surrey.. in National trust land..

Ragdale Hall Health Hydro. £95/night. Ragdale, Leicestershire.. massive place (part country hotel, part spa).

Isle of Eriska Hotel. £295/night. Benderlock, near Oban, Argyll...

The places I want to try are:

Yasurgi, €140/night in Sweden. It's japanese spa.
Alder Thermae, 3nights €500 all inclusive.. stunning place in Tuscany

There's another one which is cut out of mountain rock.. but I can't remember the name of it.

Lastly - been to the Blue Lagoon... not that great and smells.. the scenery is great (even brought back some Lava)

Ragdale Hall must be good. It just beat us in the Professional Beauty Awards. Think it's won before a few times too :)

Its not active at all.. the watersports are all in a different place - down the road.

We are going here for our Team Managers Conference and we went on a tour of the hotel last month.

The Spa is amazing...seriously, probably the best I have seen in the UK.

Going to be there on my birthday so am going to try to blag a free treatment :D

Where are you based anyway?

BB x
