I've got a fuji turion64 2.2ghz lappy nad it chews through the battery in about 40 minutes running xp.

I remember from running vista it had options for selecting longer batterylife at the expense of processor speed.

I there anything like that available in xp?

I'm only using it for browsing befre i go to bed, so it doesn't really need to be running flat out.

Cheers

Installed it, but no joy with slowing down so far :(

Dreading the prospect of having to reinstall vista in order to get a bit more life from the battery. <sob>

It should have cool n quiet on it surely? Have you installed the dual core driver and hotfix to enable it?

Found a fuji cool n quiet download. Pretty sure this one is a single core chip though. dread to think how quick a duallie would sap a battery.

Superstar, it works!

Getting just over an hour to the battery now, 15 minutes for free isn't bad :)

If its the chip i'm thinking of it uses a maximum of 35W, my turion x2 1.7ghz uses 31W max and i get 4 hours on low power mode and its a £300 dell lappy!

Is the battery knackered?

Probably, bloke gave me the lappy when i called in a debt.

Next time a job pays out i'll hunt for a spare on the bay.

Amazing how cheap they are now, just sold my old PB easynote, battery was 90 quid when i needed one, the guy that bought it from me got one for £30
