As above, had one changed before last MOT (not sure why garage didnt change both at the same time!) Think the other side has gone so want to change both at the same time again.

Any guides or how to's about?

Without looking under I can't picture how to remove/replace, is it has easy as undo a few bolts and replace?

Thanks

Not sure if its the same on the st24 as it is on the standard mk2 but it took me and my dad the best part of the day to change mine. Also on the front left hand side the gearbox was in the way which meant we had to put a locking nut in upside down or it was a engine lift job. (This also meant we had to cut the old bolt out first)

I just used my haynes manual for a bit of a guide.

Seem to remember the correct way to tackle the job was to pop the mounts and lift the gearbox up to avoid having to invert the bolt. Take a look on some specialist forums, sure plenty of people have done it.

I've done this job on about 4 Mondeos and always inverted and cut the bolt. I bought my Mk1 from a main dealer and the service manager advised me to do it that way.

As I mentioned earlier this is what we did, as our local garage advised us to do it.

Which side needs changed?
As above the n/s wishbone bolt fouls the gearbox to fit it the correct way, but most folks get scared about it. It is as simple as undoing 2 x 24mm subframe bolts and lowering the subframe a little, some leverage under the gearbox and out the old bolt comes and in the new one goes. Not a problem at all. By the time you cut out the old one, you could undo the subframe bolts and take it out properly.
I worked as a Ford tech for a while and never inverted the bolt, and never have since.
If the bolt is inverted the end of the bolt needs cut as it does fould the gearbox casing and I have seen it damaged.

Lots of people do it the other way, it's up to yourself, I will always fit it the way Ford did. But if you do fit it the other way and it does rub through the casing, you'll wish you'd spent the extra half hour dropping the subframe bolts all those months ago.

Also remember garages on bonus want to do the job as fast as possible to keep their efficiencies up, making bonus and money in their pocket and if cutting a bolt saves them some time.......

*MY opinion on cars I work on. Everyone is entitles to repair their own cars themselves.

All mk2 wishbones are the same except the ST200 (I used to own one)

Unless they snap off the captive nut. Which they often do.

Then this happens:

One thing to note I got both front arms for my car for about £48 although they weren't oem parts. Ford wanted £80 for each oem arm.
