Any suggestions for a 2+2 coupe?

Well my father has recently had a lot of problems with his 406 coupe :( It's a late 53 plate so it's not exactly that old, but the filter (or something along those lines) has caused issues a couple of times now clogging up the injectors and so on and effectively killing the engine (making it go into "limp home mode") - I'm not an expert on modern diesels, but apparently it's a fairly common problem... He's going to give it another chance and the garage has given him another year's worth of warranty (for free) so this may just be academic.

However what 2+2 coupe do you reckon might be worth looking at? The 406 is quite useable as a 2+2 and have sat at the back for 800 miles without any issues (I'm around 6'1"). I might try and convince him that he doesn't need a 2+2 but for the sake of humouring him for now I'm looking at 2+2s. He does love the 350z but that's jus a 2 seater - but I really want him to get it so that I can borrow it :p

I told him a 330d coupe would be great, I hate mercs so I shan't be suggesting any to him ;) Any other suggestions?

Budget?
330d seems the obvious choice, Merc CLK would be the other but i guess it's off the list :p

Budget would be whatever he could get back from the 406, and he might just do a car leasing deal/contract hire anyway as he'll put it through his business anyway.

What kind of age are you looking at?

Nothing that needs a hand crank to get started :p

He wants there to be some manufacturer's warranty left on it. So
I guess that's around a couple of years?

Shame :( I was going to say the Celica GT4.

I'm not sure where to go next. No idea what kind of recovery you'll be looking at from the 406.

Probably 9k max? Bear in mind this is going to be used a lot for business.

It doesn't have to be diesel, but a smog machine alternative is always acceptable.

Bear in mind we've still got the Alfa for a bit of a fun beast for the moment (i hope he can't sell it and I can buy the rest off him :p).

Whilst a 330Cd is the first thing that springs to mind this budget firmly puts paid to this idea, you can't even get a decent 330d Saloon for this money.

3 Series Coupe is a good choice still, though, and £9k would put you into a 328Ci on a 2000 plate. Fantastic cars.

Also consider the Merc CLK - not as Sporting as the 3 Series and not as good to drive but it's more of a nice tourer, similar to his 406 Coupe.
