Looking at upgrading my rig. This is what I currently have in my basket

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £269.99
1 x ASRock Z97 Extreme6 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £137.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Fury White 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C10 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (HX318C10FWK2/8) £64.99
Total : £482.57 (includes shipping : £8.00).

I do not intend on pushing past the 4.4 speed. Its memory I'm not to sure about. Is that a good choice? I'm not an overclocker, I just want a stable nice looking rig for gaming. I have the Sapphire 290 X Vapor so that influenced my choice on the Mobo but I do quite like the look of the white mem. Any suggestions welcome. If the chips come in tomorrow then I will order tomorrow. I was tempted by the 4690K but decided the 4790K would be better??

Thanks in advance

Chris

Edit: i was just wondering from the following list what components you would choose? The chip is a cert, its just mobo and mem I need to decide on. It's definitely the white mem I want though.

Hi,

The motherboard seems to be the deal breaker, so lets cover that. :)

Im not the biggest fan of Asrock boards and would personally go and buy a Gigabyte, Asus or MSI board myself but due to your circumstances the Asrock seems to be a good idea.

Not that I think ASRock boards are bad atall, in the last few years they have improved a huge amount and I'd actually class them as one of the front runners. Though I can't look past Gigabyte's UK CS/RMA.. :)

As for the motherboard I think the Extreme 4 would be a good choice, the Extreme 6 adds nothing to the party that the extreme 4 doesn't do really. The colours are still the same too.

As for the RAM the 2 you have selected are good options, its just whether you can splash the cash on the 2666mhz set or not.

I think this is what I am going to go for. The UK CS for Giga has won me over:

What cooler do you have ? As that Ram is very tall, so it wont fit under most air coolers.
