POOR QUALITY Products & even WORSE so-called 'Service'
This FAULTY, POOR QUALITY Medion 4K Ultra HD Smart TV came from Aldi. All of the FAULTS & issues occurred within the first 6 months.
When switched on, a large amount of horrible dirty marks appear all over the screen, (which are especially noticeable & prominent when there is a light background or picture)! This is not the so-called 'dirty screen' effect, (though that is another issue that this faulty TV set suffers from), but is actually a large number of actual marks within the screen layers!
There are no marks on the front of the screen, the fault can only be seen when the TV is switched on, therefore this can only be a MANUFACTURING FAULT, where dirt & marks have been trapped between some of the many layers that make up the LED screen were bonded together.
There are also vertical lines up the entire left & right hand sides of the screen, (more prominent on the left hand side), which again are BELOW the front of the screen somewhere in the layers of the screen, (look like they could be glue marks from when the layers were bonded together). This fault means there is 2 to 3 cm strip all the way up the sides of the screen where the picture is permanently out of focus!
There are LOTS of other FAULTS, including:
1) the back light is appallingly bright & terribly uneven, and won't switch off, even when allegedly turned off completely in the settings!
2) There is a large amount of picture bleed, (where the picture 'bleeds' into the black* bars above & below the picture when watching a wider screen format movie, (as most cinematic movies are formatted).
3) *The supposedly black bars above & below the picture of wide screen movies are nothing of the sort, being at best a range of greys; plus they are very uneven in tone, ranging to almost light grey toward the corners, (highlighted by the dreadful, over bright back light issue).
4) The picture is not refreshing properly or fast enough; there are 'ghost' images of the previous scenes apparent for several seconds, which is especially noticeable when there is a dark picture, (night scenes are the worst).
5) Neither the HDR function or Dolby Vision function work properly or at all when watching 4K Ultra HD Discs! I have tried this HDR only and with Dolby Vision enabled discs with the function switched on & off, and there is no difference! This means that blacks are, at best. grey, (like the bars above and below), which really detracts from the Ultra HD format and defeats the part of the purpose of the format!
In addition, 4K Ultra Discs do not look any better than the standard definition Blu-rays, (which is easy to test as most 4K's come with the standard Blu-ray disc included)! In fact this supposed 4K Ultra HD looks much WORSE than my old standard HD TV in ALL modes, (watching SD TV; watching HD TV; watching recorded TV content through a PVR; watching DVD's (through 3 different players; DVD; Blu-ray & 4K Ultra); watching Blu-rays and watching 4K Ultra Discs).
6) The remote control, (second one after the first was replaced), is temperamental, (though I suspect this may be a fault with the sensor in the TV set).
7) Blank screen issue, (occasional); on the odd occasion the screen goes completely blank; the remote won't work and the only way to get a picture again is to power the TV mains off & switch it back on again.
8) Complete sound drop out, (intermittent but regular issue); occasionally the TV goes silent, (this effects the TV's own speakers & attached soundbar, so must be a TV fault). When this happens the only way to sort it out & get sound back is to switch the TV power off & then back on again!
The QUALITY of this TV Set is truly dreadful! It is UNFIT FOR PURPOSE; NOT 'as described; NOT of 'satisfactory quality' & not likely to last a reasonable amount of time!
Medion staff are unhelpful, obstructive, ignorant & unprofessional! They agreed the TV was FAULTY but have lied to the trader & refuse to help!
I just want a refund but Medion REFUSE to help!
AVOID!
