We've got to replace the garage personal door, and the cheapest/easiest/best option was a UPC door with frame (although B&Q need to correct the packaging as it contradicts the booklet and website for the height:p).

I know pretty much what to do, IE getting it level, packing it etc as we did the garage windows with PVC units a few years back (again cheapest/easiest option given the old wooden windows needed to be completely replaced).

I picked up a set of various packing bits (1 to 10mm), and two strips of 10mm frame extender (as the new door frame is about 14mm smaller than the width of the opening, and about 18mm shorter).

I know we need to level the thing and make sure it's square, use 120-150mm bolts that should be 150-250mm in from the corners and iirc within about 150mm of the bolt locations, but wondered if anyone had any general hints or tips for fitting?

Also do the doors normally come locked in the frame, or is that the reason for 3 small screws on each of the long sides...

It didn't have any instructions, but I'm fairly sure we can work it out.:)

Sounds like you know exactly what you're doing :). One thing i would add is to make sure you toe and heel the door sash so that it wont drop over time. Lots of videos on Youtube to show how to do this, it's just the same principle of bracing a gate, but using packers.

For bolts, concrete bolts are the best and easiest method I have found. Only need a 6.5mm hole instead of 10mm with other frame anchors. Like these, not the bolt head version: http://www.screwfix.com/p/multi-fix...-concrete-screws-7-5-x-120mm-gold-pk100/95745

The door will just be locked, it wont be screwed in place. I think the screws you are referring to are just self tappers, holding the frame reinforcing in place to stop it rattling when you shut the door etc.

Cheers, the door is about 3/4 in.

The opening turned out to be lovely and level :D (the brickie my dad employed to build the garage must have spent some time levelling the opening as it was nicely mortared and almost perfectly level).

The reason it's only 3/4 done is the drill bits.
The metal bits we had were ****, (drilled one hole and it took about 20 minutes), then the SDS bits we had were too short, or massively too long.

Thank god for Screwfix who were still open and had the bits in, Dewalt Extreme2 HSS bits are wonderful, and went through the like a hot knife through warm butter.
The 10mm bit I was using went through faster than the small bit's I had tried on the first attempt at drilling the hole.

Got to go out again in ten minutes and do the top two bolts, then I can leave the last two till tomorrow.
