A few years ago I bought a LED 2D cell torch from Tesco on offer. - I have never been happy with light that came from it - very dim so just thought - well it was cheap !

Sat there last night twisting away and unscrewed it all - took lens holder off and there sitting up was loose wire - so switched it on (mistake without lens cover) then touched loose wire to only place it could have come from and bingo - blinded -- So today managed to get it soldered back on and torch works fine.

It looks to me like a dead copy of Maglite 2D cell job so was wondering if anyone knew how to take switch and internal bit's out - there are two small holes in side housing which look like a two pointed tool would fit to unscrew inside bit's

Also has anyone ever seen these bulbs for sale - been googling all morning but can only find ordinary type bulbs

Hello matey,
That torch is, despite looking very similar, completely different from a maglite in terms of design and construction.

The main reason why LED dropins like that aren't available for most traditional torches is that LEDs need heatsinking, something that most incandescent torches simply can't offer.

Good job on getting it fixed up though, enjoy it!

The unenlightened forum-folk seem to take exception to threads about torches so we try to keep it all in there ;)
