Anyone have any tips or tricks for restoring or at least improving the look of faded/blemished black plastic trim in a car?

I tried 'dashboard colour restorer' and bumper cleaner, and both had the same outcome, making it look closer to black than it was before but uneven/blotchy. Ive got it back to how it was originally now.

There are also some parts of trim which have soft touch plastic, most of which has come off so those parts look rather awful, i'm considering attempting to remove the rest of the soft touch finish to make it look more even.

I heard that using a heat-gun on the plastic works, but i'd rather not point one of those at meltable parts of my car to be perfectly honest.

Anything else that might help hide scratches to plastic trim or generally improve the look of other parts of a cars interior would be appreciated too. I have done a fair bit of work on the inside, and used the internet to look for suggestions, but we all have our little tricks which we don't think to share online so i thought i may as well ask.

Cheers all :)

WD40.

Works a treat making black plastic black again. Lasts a while depending on how much you clean the car.

Edit: can use WD40 in the car but I wouldn't as the smell of WD40 gets nasty after a bit. Exterior I would use it if I had any plastics, luckily I don't.
