It's pretty obvious that things are a bit slower in the soundcard department but has anyone heard any news of upmocing products from either Creative or M-Audio or any other respectable company out there?
Thanks.
Any idea of when is M-audio gonna get their new Vista drivers out? I am using on-board crap for now : /

certainly is a lot of controversy over there....like arguing over dac's when they are all using pc speakers, or saying they they are so much better with music when they are using their analogue speakers. i dont doubt for a second that any bitperfect card feeding a dac would show the meridian a clean pair of heels with a decent audio setup. none of them on there could see the bigger picture!

Wow, this foobar player isn't half bad. At first I was put off by its rather bland appearance when I tried it just now, but the sound is instantly apparent. It sounds almost as clear on my crappy headphones as winamp does over digital on my HT reciever. It took me a moment to figure out some of the options to get it to behave the way I like my music library set up media-player style but it works. I have to say I was wary of it but I instantly like it better than winamp (winamp is prettier but not as functional out of the box.) Still, for a full feature media player I have to go with Windows Media Player 11. It's just got all the bells and whistles and most importantly minimizes to a little remote control on my task bar. Show me something like that for foobar and I'll be in audio heaven.

'corse it does. :o and then he goes on to say this:
Also, I happen to be one of those people that can't easily tell the difference between 320kbps and 128kbps. I just look at the display and see what it says its doing. I bought the card anyway because though I'm not good at differentiating between good sound and bad sound, I still prefer good sound, and this card is the best for that. It doesn't take an audio rocket scientist to know that good sound is good sound, it just takes one to be able to describe the differences to anyone other than one's self. :p

was that Rob's quote?

I have a feeling he's full of it.

How can you have such a massive thread over one soundcard anyway?

They had to close it and open a 2nd thread as it was overloading the server lol:)

that rob is certainly full of it. it wasnt his quote though. rob kept pimping it for movies. you should always use pass-through for movies. madness
