A little too much info there, Richdog, but thanks all the same.

Don't see why I should go look at their forums when you can go straight there yourself... I was just directing you. Will only take you a few secs. :)

Very true... which makes me wonder why everyone doesn't just use the official sites really. would have made all these, '... isn't working with Vista' questions a little redundant - just go to the game developers website forum.

To say nothing of the posts where people talk about the postman not delivering their latest games - go to Royal Mail or the retailer official site

.... or now about those people who litter the hardware sections with questions about certain hardware. Surely they should just use the manufactures' website...

And here was me thinking this was a site where you could ask a question, and perhaps someone might know the answer off the top of their heads!

Please people - stop wasting the OCUK forum's time!!!!!!! Use the OTHER forums!!!!!!

You were asking for an update to a patch, for which the specific information for is on their official forum... is that difficult to understand? Or would you have preferred me to go and have a look for you and save you the effort?

Now you're ranting and interpreting that as me saying that no-one should post questions on this forum?

I was just pointing it out and directing you to the appropriate place, no need to get your knickers in such a twist.

These kind of responses to simple questions, that are not meant to cause red-faces or narky responses, rather point to some form of frustration with your life....

Please seek help... and don't take things so seriously in future!

It's just a question, dude, that I thought someone on these usually friendly forums might have a quick answer too!

Chill... please!

Hey, don't shoot the messenger... These are not my beliefs, but those of many psychiatrists.

I feel the padded cell awaits you, where you will safely be able to scribble on the walls...

"I'M NOT GOING TO LOOK STUFF UP FOR YOU!", "READ THE OFFICIAL FORUMS!", "EVERYONE BUT ME IS LAZY AND DON'T KNOW WHERE TO LOOK FOR THINGS!"

oh dear!

try the unofficial *leaked* 1.2 patch? Warning its about 600 ish MB.

I take it youve had problems with the game so need to patch it?

If you are going to install 1.2 patch dont install the 1.1 patch first. (reports of problems doing it that way)

Cheers, Surfer, I'll give this one a try.

How are you finding the 1.2 patch?

havent played enough yet.

installed 1.2 and a mod Lands of....(smt)

i was in a hurry so i went Scotland and tried to take Inverness (med/med)

first attempt - i built 1 thats right 1 siege tower and had 1 ram.

both got torched by archers before i reach their walls/gate so i automatically lose.:(

2nd attempt

built 2 siege towers 2 ladders 1 ram.

spent some time trying to manouevre my lads so they wouldnt have to face a barrage of flaming arrows from the walls. At the moment i havent re-configuerd my key settings and the defaults ones are doing my head in.

This time i got my all my ladders and siege engines to the walls and started pouring troops through.

Unfortunately my battering ram got torched again so i couldnt get my cavalry into the castle!! Aargh. So my muppet infantry had to try to win.

To be honest once i realized my cavalry were stuck outside i just charged all my men towards the town centre. Needless to say i got my ass kicked.

So this is good hehe...
Only thing that bothered me was that things chugged along fairly slowly and i think i will have to lower some graphical settings to get it to play more smoothly (at 1440x900 maxed 8x ani 4x aa)

Yep... nothing worse than having some kick ass Calvary, and watching them get locked out of a city!

Looks like I'll be on a 600mb download tonight! Do you rate the Lands of... mod?

Do we know if the guys that did the Rome: total war Converstion are going to do the same with medieval 2? ive had a quick gander on google, but nothing seems to come up.

Surely they haven't changed the fact you can capture the gates and open them just by running at them, have they? That would be a total disaster!

lol :D

anyway i redid it and managed to take inverness and dublin in short order. Got in through the gate np.

However possible problems.

1. Sometimes it will take a while for my guys to obey an order (e.g. to fire at a new target or charge the enemy even if they are facing the enemy)

2. I played a quick battle skirmish game (i was configuring keys) and is it normal for enemy cavalry to charge but then stop run away then run in a circle?????
Found it extremely weird behaviour.

3. Tried historical battles but was unable to choose any of them (empty descriptions) I dont know if this is a result of me installing Lands to Conquer v2.2 mod

4. The enemy seems to ROUT very easily! (i have 1.2 leaked patch and lands to conquer v2.2 mod installed) on medium/medium settings.

The battle scenes seem a lot more chaotic and disjointed than Rome:TW :(

So far i have not seen any real difference between this and Rome:TW (apart from historical and aesthetic enhancements)

That's probably why. Anyone else get the newsletter with some campaign saves to try as challenges? I might give those a bash once the patch is out, th newsletter didn't say anything about it so maybe they were just trying to distract ... ooh shiny expansion :p

The leaked patch broke my game, every time I loaded a battle I got weird, flat, green and white textures on the ground and then CTD. I'll probably have another go when the patch is properly released and then shelve it until Kingdoms.
