I've just noticed on Virgin Media's website that they are now offering 4MB customers 10MB for the same price, provided that they live in an area which uses fibre optic.

According to Virgin Media, the 10MB speeds are in the process of being rolled out to customers, so the question is, Who is on 10MB?! :D

Find out when your update is due!

Whappers.

Still on 4 here. I love the way they say its fibre optic broadband! Every area is fibre optic as that is the primary method of transport. It get converted to coax well before your home though.

ok, i must have a mux then at the end of the street, cos its got fibre running into it, i payed particular attention when the engineer came to install last week

Roll out details here.
Preston area has been upgraded already.
Edinburgh, Dundee, Coventry Swindon, Ashford, and Watford are supposedly being done during February.
The rest of us will just have to sit and wait

err i got a question, i am currently on the 2mb band and is located in edinburgh.. my package costs 19.5 with the cheapest tv and phone.. and is wondering whats the cost of upgrading my 2mb to 4mb in order to catch the free upgrade to 10mb.. does anyone know?

No, the UBR is the equivalent of a cable exchange. I live in Basingstoke but according to my hostname my UBR is located in Winnersh - around 18 miles away.

I'm pretty sure it isn't. I'll do some digging in the morning and find the information.
