Hey guys.

Got an interview for a warehouse company in a weeks time. Won't be my first interview, but I haven't had many and I get nervous and I don't think I'm too good at them.

Any tips, and qualities/answers they'll specifically be looking for in this line of work?

Thanks!

YES! heres one they love.... tell them you love teamwork and your a real teamplayer but at the same time your more than able to be left to do a job well on your own.

TEAMWORK! remember it

Thanks dude, I'll keep them in mind.

I tend to emphasise the teamwork one but not the working on your own one. Will do from now on.

Tbh abit worried though.. I've been out of work for a good while now, about 5 months. I've been trying to get a job, really I have, but it's just been difficult and work in my area of interest has been rare. I've been on job seeker's allowance and it's strange, you go in every 2 weeks and you can tell most of the people in there have no intention of getting a job for as long as they can and I guess I'm tarred with that same brush, but it's not true.

Reckon employers will just see me as some lazy bum and disregard me. :(

I used to work in a warehouse for a short period of time. At the interview i was asked a few things, mainly how well i can operate as a team, but also how i can organise and plan when it comes to working alone as we had to multi-task a lot due to being short staffed. Obviously, being capable of lifting heavy items properly and having physical strength helps a bit too.

There's not much to working in a warehouse except trustworthyness, awareness (fork trucks etc.) and being able to work alone or in small groups. Each warehouse is different of course. The one I work in relies heavily on a custom computer database so computer literacy is a must.

Best of luck with the interview :)

They'll just want to know that you don't mind being body searched by a Security Guard every time you leave for home. ;)

Yeah i used to get that, but they used a metal detector.

Would you like to come work for us?
Our goods in department deals with around 7000 different components and is fed on a pretty much as required basis. We use a heavily modified and remarkably out of date computer system (which they break a lot so I have to try to repair). A license for counter-balance and/or reach fork trucks would be prefered. This position requires a methodical, trustworthy individual to integrate into the team. Unfortunately in the past year we have taken on around 7 complete ******* idiots. So its my turn to interview :(
Do not! use the term trust-worthy or the word honest unless the interviewer mentions it, that alone is enough to spook the people that usually interview here.

Hey, theres no "I" in team.

But a team isnt a team without................................"U".

Teaum its the new black.
