my neighbor is realy good with computers and stuff. hes helped me loads. but i have a sneaky susspicion he is stealing my interweb. sometimes its much slower than others and this has only been going on for about a month. i have security set up so most people cant hack it but he would be able to easy. i saw on the real hustle that they parked a van outside a guys house and could monitor his internet usage. they saw the pages he was on and then went to his house with a printed out copy of all the pages he had been on. is there any way i can LEGALY monitor my own internet. i dont want to report him to the police or anything because its not a big deal and i dont want to accuse him of it withou proof. hes a good neighbor, and i know his isp has been having problems in our area. but if i could just see if he is or not. if this is ilegal or impossible that is fine. dont bother risking a ban or whatevre here. thanks

lol at the Real Hustle, to my knowledge what they did is impossible, as they had screen grabs of his screen.

If he is using your wireless connection without your permission, then i belive its agasint the law. Have a look on your router, and should show you connected devices. Also change your WPA key

firstly, when you suspect he's on it just go in to your routers admin pages, you can usually check all connected computers/laptops either via Wireless Clients pages or DHCP table ... might be worth just changing your security passphrase for piece of mind?

Setup a Wireless access list. Nobody can get in even if they guess your password as you have to manually add the hardwares mac address

simples ;)

CHANGE the password/WEP Key/WPA key if you are atall concerned. And yeah, you should be able to see who is on your network. Also, couldn't you save yourself a bit of time and just go face to face and ask him? Or ask him why it goes slowly sometimes. ;)

thanks guys. i will have a look. he might well not be. but its a hunch. i could ask him but i wouldnt want to offend him.

As above, but include a mix of upper/lower case, symbols and numbers.

If he is brute forcing or doing a dictionary attack then that will add years on to cracking it.
