Hey,

I'm getting lazy and was wondering if there was any way i could buy an adapter for the jack in the back of my tower that sends the sound to my speakers and headphones so that both can be plugged into the machine at once

I'm not sure how best to describe it but imagine it as a 'Y' where the base goes into the tower and the two tips at the top of the 'Y' are 2 options (1 for speakers and 1 for headset)

I've moved my tower and its now difficult to swap these two items over... if it is possible, could someone either link me to an overclockers product, or just tell me the item name so i can look it up.

Thanks,

You'll be adjusting the volume all the time. If you want to listen to your speakers, then chances are you have to unplug your headphones anyway...otherwise you'll bugger them.

how come? i always leave the windows volume on max and adjust the speaker / headset volume via their inbuilt controls...

i dont intend to use both at once, just not have to change them all the time

also - what would i search for to find one, i cant find the words to describe it... google thinks im a noob.

i have been using the exact same 1 for many years.

if i dont want the sound to come out of the speakers, i just switch them off.

if i dont want the sound to come out of the headphones, i just turn the sound down using the control on the head phone.

I had a splitter on my soundcard that i connect my speaker directly to, then had an extension cable to my desk that i could un/plug my headphones into. Don't anymore because i connect my amp digitally, so just go change to analog for headphones:).

I've got a Belkin one doing exactly what you want. I turn my head phones down when I'm using my hifi, and turn my hifi off when I'm using the cans.

Having the headphones' volume up will zap the signal strength, meaning you will have to push the stereo's amp harder. Keep the cans' volume down when you're not using them and you'll be just fine.

Chris.

I just have them both plugged in, headpones with volume control in the "front" jacks and speakers (via an old goodmans amp) in the "rear" jacks, then just re-assigned the outputs in the realtek audio manager. But then I only have one pair of speakers and no sub or anything else that's not really needed....
