Any way to block and protect my sons phone from unsuitable content

I've give my eldest son my old phone. But am worried about what things can be looked at, at school. Is moved up to where there are older kids and I don't want him having access to such thing. Is there a app or program I can load up to block that type of stuff. Also is there a way of tracking his phone just in case it gets stolen.
