Any way to change FOV in Dead Space?

Tried playing DS the other night and gave up before the first checkpoint because the FOV is so ridiculously low, it is like having zoom permanently on and is basically unplayable. Anyone know of a way to raise it, I tried an app called 'Widescreen Fixer' but that just crashed it when I pressed the hotkey.

Yes.
I've already got .NET4 and C++ 2010 installed

Remember this is Dead Space not Dead Space 3 - there is no Window.FOVScale option that I can find in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Electronic Arts\Dead Space\settings.txt , which seems to be the equivalent configuration file. I tried adding it manually to no avail.
