im going to get a new hard drive soon and i wanted to know if there is a program that would let me copy the entire contents of my c drive including my windows 7 install over to the new one? :) the new drive is going to be the same size as the old one if it matters

You need a drive imaging app such as Acronis True Image or Symantec Ghost.

Copy c:\*.* won't do it I'm afraid.

i found a really good program called dr freeware its lunix based but does work and is free. the only reason i used it was becusae norton and acronis true image didn't work for me some reason, Acronis got to 75% then powered down my system so i wont be using it again

I use Acronis true image all the time. Great App.

Only failed me a couple of times at 98% when it was cloning a drive. Think it was due to overclock

Linux'd also do it - but you'd need a version that has good NTFS support.

then it's simply a matter of
dcfldd if=/mnt/"hard drive 1" of=/mnt/"hard drive 2" and then wait until it's done :)
