Ive tried everyting, by moving my pc and the antener around, moved the router, but still i get 4 bars and lots of random disconects.

What is so poor is the fact the router is in the room bellow me, maybe 3 meters away lol.

I could move it up here and plonk it next to my pc, but what would be the ***** point lol?

I get a 22mbps somwtimes but then it will go to 11 then 5 and then 2/1 and i get disconected.

Im realy getting tired of damaging my case with my fist, and its about time to go wired or hope wirless hardware has improved since i bought into it 1 year ago.

Im currently using a netgear ADSL DG834g and a dlink dwl 520.

Ive noticed a few rougters have 2 anteners atm, is that mean its signal is larger or just a quicker respose time?

cheers

Get a Netgear PCI Adapter , i've found that Netgear+ other brands dont work well.

Update the firmware for the DG834G and the Dlink adapter

You can buy booster antenna that will increase the signal range and strength. I think the Netgear routers only come with a 2dB one attached. I installed a network recently for someone for the DG834 and their signal kept dropping just like you described yours. I obtained a 7dB antenna for them and since then the signal on the PCs is always decent. :)

Hi

You have not mentioned if you have tried changing the wireless channel the router is using. If you have do not done this then that would definately be the first thing I would.

When you scan of the wireless networks do you get lots of other networks being listed ?

Also is there a way for the Dlink card to only try and connect using the 11Mbos B standard as it maybe having problems trying to connect on the 22Mbps as the DLink card is using a non standard connection protocol that the netgear will probably have issues with so try using the 11Mbps B setting if you can
