any way to know Windows Experience Index prior to upgrading?

is there any way of finding what my WEI would be in Windows 7, before I upgrade (currently using XP Pro)...

don't really want to bother with re-installing my programs etc if all I'm going to get is a 3!

Why are you bothered about the WEI number??

There is so much more Windows 7 has to offer you over your XP Pro installation that the last thing you should be concerned about is the WEI number.

To answer your question: No.

However you can list your PC specs here and guys who have similar specs can post their scores - so you can see what you could expect to get.

Also note the score is generated by the lowest component score. So if your GFX gets 7 and your hard drive gets 5 - your highest score will be 5 - no matter what you change (Unless you get a faster drive, obviously. )

Wasn't there a page on the microsoft website that gave you a rough estimate?

The WEI would be the single worst reason to base upgrading to Windows 7 on.
