I've seen forum posts stating that people can play halo 1 via the 360's VGA cable fine though.
I can't play halo 2 on the 360 over a monitor. It is something to do with the PAL-50 setting. The exact message is.
"The VGA HD AV Cable does not support the PAL-50 setting required by this game. Connect the composite connector of your cable or use an Advanced SCART or Component HD AV Cable. For more info, go to www.xbox.com/support."
Bit of an arse really as this is the only reason I have never played the game - the copy just sits there. Glad I only paid £4.99 for it.

Correct. Some older games do this, including Halo2 and Topspin 2when I tried it on the 360. I just took the 360 downstairs, hooked it up to our TV and changed the PAL setting. Then I took the 360 back upstairs, hooked it up to VGA again and was able to update the game and then play.I think he had to first update the 360 by putting halo into the drive while it was connected by a vga cable to the TV and then after that you have to reconnect the composite cable to the tv change the settings and then plug back in the vga cable and you should be able to play it.
Haven't got the game but have you tried changing the res to 640 x 480?
