Any way to make halo 1 work with VGA cable on a 360?

Surely there must be as you could connect the original xbox to a monitor.

Edit searching some of the sites that I cant post links for it seems it's not possible.

I've seen forum posts stating that people can play halo 1 via the 360's VGA cable fine though.

Yeah I was just reading a site that said it was a Pal issue. A few people saying they could play Halo over VGA and others saying it wasn't possible with a PAL copy.

Could it be a 50htz problem?

I can't play halo 2 on the 360 over a monitor. It is something to do with the PAL-50 setting. The exact message is.

"The VGA HD AV Cable does not support the PAL-50 setting required by this game. Connect the composite connector of your cable or use an Advanced SCART or Component HD AV Cable. For more info, go to www.xbox.com/support."

Bit of an arse really as this is the only reason I have never played the game - the copy just sits there. Glad I only paid £4.99 for it.

theres a way of fixing that, you have to plug it into a componant tv first i think. I play halo 2 on VGA all the time.

I only get that if I try to connect to Live for Multiplayer in H2. Single player works fine here with the VGA cable / 19" CRT.

I cant remember the details but this problem drives my friend crazy :p

I think he had to first update the 360 by putting halo into the drive while it was connected by a vga cable to the TV and then after that you have to reconnect the composite cable to the tv change the settings and then plug back in the vga cable and you should be able to play it.

Correct. Some older games do this, including Halo2 and Topspin 2when I tried it on the 360. I just took the 360 downstairs, hooked it up to our TV and changed the PAL setting. Then I took the 360 back upstairs, hooked it up to VGA again and was able to update the game and then play.

I was about to kick off lol, and go on a eugh 360 sucks war path, but then I remembered, It's backwards compatibility issue and will probably be fixed at some point :p Hopefully anyways, I'm guessing MS overlooked that Halo PAL may not work the same way HALO US does.

as far I can tell some xbox games just will not run with the vga cable including conkers bad furday and psychonaughts. Pretty annoying really, there is a ms article about it, basically says the only work around is to plug in the component lead. It is true though that some games will work once you do the pal 60 thing.

How annoying, I want the vga cable for the better pic quality and swaping the wire is a massive hassle.
