Any way to reserve Outlook calendar when proposing new time?

OK this is an issue that has bugged me for years, and doesn't yet seem to be resolved.

Basically, when I propose a new meeting time in Outlook, I would like the ability for this to Tentatively block the time in my calendar. The reason for this is so that I know there is likely to be a meeting in that timeslot (if the organiser accepts my proposal), and avoid booking other meetings in that slot (either my own or worse, booked by others who think I am free).

Otherwise there is this timing issue, whereby the person who got my proposal accepts it after the slot has already been taken. So I'm then back to square one again, with another meeting conflict to resolve. And they are probably sat there thinking "why did this clown propose 2pm on Thursday and then when I move the meeting then, he's asking for it to be moved again!?!".

Surely I can't be only one who gets frustrated by this never-ending game of whack-a-mole?

Obviously, I can manually block the time myself, but that feels very clunky and you have to keep clearing out junk as meetings get shifted around, or the meeting organiser checks my calendar and thinks "oh he's no longer free in that proposed slot, I'll come up with another one myself..."
