I have a retail copy of Dark Souls which uses GFWL, I have been looking for the cd key which is nowhere to be seen, got like everything from inside the box but can't find the cd key card.

Any way to retrieve the key? I have the game installed and it is still working fine both online and offline, I even completed the game like a week ago. But thinking of reinstalling windows so need the key again.

You'll need to uninstall it I think in order for it to work again.

Yes but my question was whether I can see what key I used when I installed Dark Souls on my computer about 6 months or so.

It's easy to do that with Windows or Office suite, but I am unable to find anything regarding GFWL games.

EDIT: Never mind found the manual with the cd key on it :)

How can he do that without his key? He wants to know if he can get his key from his installed version as he lost the key from his box. Which afaik is not possible.

Not sure as its been a while since I used it but I think belarc advisor used to show serials of installed programmes , maybe worth a go as its free and will only take a couple of minutes to see.

As per my edit in my second post, I have already found the manual with the cd-key, the reason for me looking for the cd-key was so that I could active the game on steam, something that was not possible during release time (just found out on steam forums). I have managed to activate the game on steam now, it's still using GFWL though.

BTW retail versions is awesome, it comes with:
150-page art book,
Original soundtrack CD,
A DVD containing the complete behind the scenes video series,
Poster and postcards.
