hi,

basically i have been having trouble with my broadband connection ever since i moved my router next to my phone socket. the only thing that i have changed is the rj11 cable (as i dont need a 10m cable for a 30cm run). since doing this the connection has been intermittent, it has been bearable as it seemed to work in evenings (i am out during the day so it hasnt been a problem). now it seems to be disconnecting everytime i attempt to do anything internet based. eg, the connection is active, and as soon as i turn on my xbox to connecto to live, or open firefox it just drops.

i have contacted bt and had my line tested, my isp is not reporting any faults. i have changed my microfilter. only thing left is the rj11 cable.

so, my question is, is there any way that i would be able to test the cable is functioning correctly? would my local shop be able to do it for me?

thanks.

the only thing you can do is check the cable for continuity although not much help if the fault is intermittent, although the easieest option would be to replace the cable.

Also any stats from your router/modem would be helpful the log if it has one normally say why it has dropped.
