Any widescreen BF2 players?

BF2 widescreen works but your HUD will stretch and you will lose some of the top/bottom of your viewing area.

I think it's fine, it's down to personal preference really.

Widescreen mode is a pain in the ass on BF2. Rather than add anything to the width they have sliced off the top and the bottom, which gives you a much smaller overall field of view, and makes flying a right pain in the neck.
I play in 1600x1200 and strecth the image so I still get nice graphics, and don't really loose out on much overall.

ive not done it my self, but there is a vid of a guy showing off his e-penis with his 30" mac and high spec rig on you tube, type in '8800 gtx' and search through the vids, there will be something like '30" 8800 gtx sli rig with bf2' and he seems to get it fine.... damn son of a *****

wish i had a 30" :(

EDIT: here is a vid of the res you want to play

Is there anyone on here who plays BF2 on widescreen?

( i know there is a tweak to set it )

What is it like?

Is it worth it?

I plan to play it on 1680x1050 when i get a new monitor. This is the monitor:

I did play it at 1440 x 1050 or something like that and it was really good. The I found how to play it at 1680 x 1050 and its also good but I tend to get eye strain when sniping.

Personal preference really.

Doesn't slow my system down at all playing at at mostly high details.
Got a x2 3800 @ 2500Mhz and 3Gb ram at 210mhz.
ATI x1900 xt @ 795/837

does anyone know the tweak?

add this +szx 1280 +szy 1024

to the command line, sub 1280 and the 1024 to your screen res.

So for example mine would be +szx 1920 +szy 1200

Also put it at the end of the line.

Make sure you have the detail settings how you want them first though, as it can default back to normal res if you go into the video options.

Sorry i cant be more specific on the command line as in copy mine to demonstrate, im at work :(

2 ways to do it AFAIK, you can edit the command line as datamonkey has said, or go to my documents/battlefield 2/settings/ or somthing along those lines and edit the video.con file in notepad. There is a simple section where you can change the resolution and other settings.

Google is your friend man ! Do it !

the engine doesnt support 16*9 and according to the developers it isnt a priority

hopefully the next engine is more flexable and allows it

I play it on a 19" widescreen TFT and leave it at 1280x1024. It's slightly stretched, but I don't notice it anymore. The widescreen mod lost too much of the visible viewpoint to be any use.
