Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone here plays games on their PC on their wireless?

I'm forced into a position where I need to play on a wireless network and I was just wondering if anyone has any router recommendations for me? The signal strength needs to be good and stretch across 1 floor, through 3 walls.

I used to and it used to be fine; until the wireless connection slowly degraded (due to the adapter I think). I then switched to wired and it was much better than the degraded wireless signal, but was no better than the wireless connection when it was fine.

What router were you using?

Although not directly answering your question (sorry for that) have you considered using homeplugs instead? You'd probably get a far superior connection that's more suitable for gaming than a wifi connection.

I still game wirelessly, but in the same room as the router and with full signal strength - I just don't want any trailing cables.

In my old house I was wireless on a different floor - i'd recommend using a good pci/non usb adaptor and a high gain antenna - couldn't say with regards to a good router but the high gain antenna to plug into the adaptor made a lot of difference - and you can also position it easily in the best place for reception.

Wifi tends to add 1ms, nothing more, since it's one way com. Provided your routers cpu isn't maxed out it'll be fine, although running a wire is better imo :P

Yea ping isn't the problem, just from my experience of wireless gaming was that every 30 seconds or so you would get a 3 second lag spike. I put that down to bad routing and that there were wireless telephones around.

I play online using a wireless adapter and it works fine without too many problems. I use the BT HomeHub from BT Infinity and a TP-Link WN822N USB adapter. Sometimes my signal drops down to 4 bars but the performance online is still very good.

i got a belkin router for 6.99 n i played games on it all the time with a ping of about 50ms, pinging the router was about 1ms, any wireless router should be fine these days
