any xjr owners?

Hi guys, any help would be great but as its an xjr...
I'm having a mental block and can't get my seat off.

The helmet hook and seat lock are the same unit and turning the key either opens the helmet holder or opens the seat up. As it is, the holder doesn't seem to want to shut fully, stopping me from opening the seat.

I've tried wd40 and cleaning out the mechanism which although free moving, it seems to have done naff all. As this has been an issue for sometime the battery is now dead (enough juice to power the alarm though) and I want to charge it. It's only now I've had enough time to have a proper go at getting it off.

Any ideas?

That's as far as it will turn before twisting the key. I can't get to anything else as the seat covers it all

I'll get a photo of the back but there's just as much to see there as there is at the front

No, the key won't physically turn any further like something's stopping it. I've tried wd40 as far as I can reach into and around the lock but no avail. Also tried getting the missus to unlock it whilst I sat on it but no budging

Thanks guys, once I've got the bloody thing open I'll take the lock off and clean it properly, decrease it etc. The main thing is getting the bugger open

Yeah, once the helmet lock is fully closed, the key continues turning and pops the seat open.

No luck so far with the wd40 but I have some security screwdriver attachments on the way to undo the lock and panels so i can dismantle it if needs be.
