I'm trying to do a pivot table in excel.
I have a single column of data which has been pulled from our CMS.
This column is just a long list of dates.
I also have another column with a list of the days of the week for the reporting period i want to make the graph for. (eg 11/04/2011 , 12/04/2011 etc..)
If i add the count of my A column into the value field, and add it again into Row Labels, it gives me a nice column with a count of how many times that day appears in the column.
What it doesn't do, is count the days that don't appear and show them as zero.
This is where my 2nd column with days of the week comes in. If i try and add that into values it just counts one for each day .. and adds another row in the pivot table counting 1 for each day of the week .. Not what i want.
So i add it as a Row Label instead.
Now i get 1 for each day of the week and 31 counted for (blank)
But they aren't blank, and why can it count one of them, but not the rest ?
Any ideas ?
