Hi all

First off I'm not sure if its OK to discuss this but mods feel free to delete if need be...

I've had a couple of letters recently from a debt company called Moorcroft Debt recovery limited, Basically I owe about £100 to Barclays for an account I haven't used for about 2 years....

Has anybody dealt with these or heard of these people, I don't want to go paying them and being scammed, from a quick Google people are saying to avoid them and don't pay them but how would they know all my details...

Any help appreciated

Thanks

I’d ask Barclays for written proof they’ve tried to recover the debt first

Also check your credit file

On my Clearscore Report it shows Barclays £111 in Default, shall I still contact Barclays... I don't mind clearing the debt as that's all I have left then I have no debt (apart from a wife and kids :p) but I don't want my card details being copied and then I'm screwed if you see where I'm coming from

Do you agree that you owe Barclays money? Were you previously aware of it? Do you know what it is for?

100% agree I owe money, even though I had no overdraft but something made my account go into overdraft by £111... I did speak to barclays and say I couldn't pay as I was put of work at the time with little income to keep my family going... Now I have a job and willing to pay it but I like to do research before handing out money or card details and every review or conversation of these people is highly negative, just want some pointers at how to go about this :)

If it is only 2 years old debt and you know it is genuine I would speak to Barclays directly. If you've had no contact from them since the original interaction I'd take that up as why you are contacting them directly.

In fairness I'd be surprised to find a debt recovery firm with a good review! :p

:p very true

I'll get in contact with Barclays and see if they can help with the situation before I go ahead with it all

It’s definitely a genuine company, I’ve had dealings with them before.

The people saying to just avoid paying them are nothing more than debt shirkers.

They are legitimate, I had to deal with them when dealing with my brother's estate a couple of years back. They were actually fairly helpful, which surprised me.

Ahhh that's good to hear compared to somethings I've read online :) thanks

Without wishing to sound like a language zealot the title of this should read - "Anyone Dealt with This Lot?" or "Anyone Dealt with These?"

Anyone Dealt With These Lot is just wrong.

There. I've said it. I can sleep tonight now.

Carry on.

If you pay it back and depending how long it was outstanding. You could make up an excuse as to why it was not paid. Ask Barclays if they are will to take the marker off.
