After the accounting exam today and my lack of two pieces of coursework i can safely say ill be repeating this year. not complaining i fully accept its my fault, im easily led astray.

Nevermind!

My question is, will i automatically be put back in as a 1st year student or what?

And has everyone else been beavering away at their books and done well?

I scraped through my first year with somethign like 41%. The people who screwed up even worse had to do retakes. The ones who screwed up their retakes had to retake the year.

You usually have retakes in the summer.

Usually you can get through to your second year with the majority of your credits, but I guess it will differ from uni to uni. Your personal tutor will probably be good to speak to.

I believe that you are still a second year student just repeating the first year again.
I failed my first year in Computing and I took it again this year, however to attempt to take the second year course I have to have an interview because it will be my third year in college so ya xD
Just coming up to the end of the second years in both ICT and Accounts, hoping to pass them both to say I have A Levels in them both and then next year I hope to carry on with A2 computing and something else.

To be fair, they realise that a lot of people spend their first years going off the rails. If you can, have a word with your tutor asap. It's likely you'll get the chance to retake the modules you've failed, or do the coursework now. Accounting is pretty tough as well, so probably lots of people struggling all round.

How about the rest of your exams, what course are you doing? If accounting wasn't a key module, and your average otherwise is good, then you might not even have to retake. I failed Accounting in my second year and got away with it.

Messed up my first year but I had an excuse: Physics at Uni of Notts

Make sure you're really doing the right course, if its right then you can't help but succeed.

Well, i failed my first year in Computer Science purely on the basis of my Maths. I achieved enough credits in the Programming unit but failed my Maths retake. For some reason the UEA (East Anglia) decided i was therefore unfit to progress into my second year and wrote me a letter basically kicking me out. :D

In retrospect this was the best thing that could've happened to me though as i'm not a solid programmer and i simply cannot for the life of me understand Maths. The second year would've therefore been far too advanced for me. After a few nights i composed myself and wrote a heartfelt letter to the board stating my reasons on why i still wanted to be at University (drink, drugs, girls, etc, you know the deal ;))

In the end i still wanted to do a computer orientated course (they wouldn't let me retake the course), but one where programming/maths weren't a primary function and thankfully i got lucky. I read the course catalogue and found a nice looking degree entitled Business Information Systems. I wrote my concession letter and i'm now halfway through my 2nd year doing my exams and flying through them.

My coursework is pushing past a first degree and i'm confident my exams will keep me pushing that thin line into my third and final year. I'm actually putting the work in too! It certainly isn't easy finding that happy medium and there's always the desire to just get hammered each night. It's all about growing up and being responsible at uni though and i'm thankful to the UEA for keeping me onboard and allowing me to flourish.

i didnt think it was possible to fail the first year  80% Avg in my 1st
Same here lol

You must have gone up the bar every night!!

There are some subjects that you can't cram for, and you can only get good at by practice and a good work ethic - typically maths, physics and other sciences.

For some universities, it is not entirely easy to pass the first year. For example, majority of students found the first year at Bath university reading Computer Science very tough.

True a friend of mine there is really struggling, compared to what I'm doing in a computing course at Pompey (1st Year). Although some of the maths I've done this year has flown over my head.
