Anybody else resenting AMD because of DLSS?

Just like i was sayin, still hanging on that dlss 1.0 to diss it. Typical, also boring and expected.
Well, 78% sharpened over 4K? That is effectively 5K or 6K! Sure, it will be better than native 4K.
78% over 1440p. = 1700p
Digging up a 2year old review of DLSS 1, from Hardware unboxed of all places tell you the whole story.
1700p << 2160p. It doesn't make sense that "1700p" has better image quality.

Or the "native 4K" is on an Nvidia's card?! That would explain it.

chris85oc posts ignorance about the story of sharpening and upscaling looking better than DLSS so one of the reviews gets screenshotted to demonstrate the facts and it causes hilarious distress :D

No, I think there are bigger issues in the world.

What is DLSS? Sounds like image upscaling? Presumably there will be issues, e.g. image quality v 100% true resolution? AI/ML is not perfect.

DLSS is just another marketing name for lowering your in-game settings.
You can achieve the same result on any AMD or Intel graphics by lowering the settings, or on an AMD graphics by lowering the resolution, the settings and enabling the Radeon Image Sharpening, Radeon Boost and Variable Rate Shading.

There is but Cognitive dissonance has set in with a loud minority of people, i remember JayZ2Cents zoomed in on some grass in Cyberpunk when he was reviewing one of the Ampere cards, it was very obviously and clearly down grading the resolution quality as he was turning DLSS on and off, even pointed it out while commenting on how brilliant DLSS is.

Its like we have come to agree that reducing your resolution quality isn't really just that when you give it a button and an acronym.

Yes but it's necessary.

It's become popular to have screens with a resolution too high to play games at full resolution. Needs more graphics power than is available. Especially on consoles.

So everyone's rummaging in the bag of tricks to make these screens look good and have acceptable gameplay whether its image upscaling or dynamic resolution/quality/fps targeting.

1. I am not the one who trolled the forum with fake slides, unlike you
2. You still haven't disproved that AMD were aiming for 1440p in ray tracing, AMD targets 1440p ray tracing but DLSS alternative not ready until well into 2021 | PC Gamer
3. You still haven't proved that AMD beat Nvidia in ray tracing or provide an average of 90 fps in 4k ray tracing. From an article you quote, "Another example would be Fortnite which is basically broken with RT enabled on the 6900 XT in terms of performance...In my opinion ray tracing in Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a complete bust and we struggle to tell when it’s enabled. So the 71% hit to frame rates when using ultra ray traced shadows on the 6900 XT is unacceptable"

Yeah it's now desirable or fantastic tech because PCs are doing it. I remember saying in the past how games like Last of Us 2, God of War or Uncharted 4 take a massive poo on 99% of PC games but people would remind me about consoles using checkerboarding and native is so much better.

Yet here we are buzzing about nvidia and amd using fancy techniques for a similar goal.

Pleased that you believe the marketing , above is the 1440p result, not even at 4k, in ray tracing gaming is clearly comprised here

Yes, it is, obviously.

What do you think is going on here with that performance?

I just realised something... you need a 3090 and DLSS on to get <60 FPS RTX Ultra at 1440P?

Even that is unacceptable...

I don't play Fortnite but if i did and turned RTX on how many FPS would i get even with DLSS on? about 18?

Dude, seriously, what an utter crap show.

####### Fortnite really???

Thread locked, usual suspects bickering. I suggest people refersh the forum and section rules to avoid offence when suspension is given.
