Firstly hi all.

Anybody elses eyes not get on with 2560 x 1440 res on a 27" screen? I seem to be straining, I wear contacts and without have poor eyesight but going from a 1920 x 1080 my eyes feel over worked. Its more so the text I think.

Anyone else had this.

I love the space and so on but the text is just too small. I don't use my 27" imac due to this and went back to my pc using a 27" dell hi res screen but again im having issues.

Thanks

Yea I tried that too last week with a monitor bought online, it went back, now on a dell 24 inch at 1080 x 1200 and defo a lot better but don't get the screen space, I use a triple screen set up so would have 3 x dell 24".

Quite individual matter, indeed. I'm about 1m away from a 42" HDTV (1920x1080), and I STILL have to use zoom on the web browser. :D

If I go to about 50cm distance from the set, then I'll start to be able to distinguish separate pixels.

How far back are you sitting? If im sitting at my desk I dont have any issues with WQHD, however if I'm being lazy and sitting further back (say just after watching a movie) I end u[ about 2 meters away and I have to zoom into the text on most sites :-/

1440p does make text small. No question. However in most cases I find that the problem is fully solved by holding down CTRL and scrolling the mouse wheel up...

It takes a while to adjust to the new res, but you should be able to solve it by using appropriately sized icons and text. Don't just suffer in silence without making some configuration changes!

I went from 1920x1200 24" to 2560x1440 27". Took me about a week to get used to the difference but now I couldn't be without it. I deliberately made no changes at first until I had given myself time to get used to the screen and ended up not changing anything, but changing the font and icon sizes would be a good idea as mentioned if you still can't get on with it.
The only real adjustment I had to make was not to try and view web pages full screen, I only ever use half the screen for web pages or documents now because otherwise the white space did strain my eyes after a while with how bright it was.
I also have bad eyesight without my glasses by the way, terrible in fact, if that makes any difference.

This ^ ... I also bought another stand for my monitor, this made it easier to move so I didn't move my head to see it ! Its now easier to view...

If you're using Windows 7 or Windows 8 right click on desktop, screen resolution, make text and other items larger, set to medium 125%. This fixes desktop Icons.

For the browser (Mozilla Firefox). Download Zoom Page 6.3 addon. Go to options, Zoom Levels, Default Zoom Level 150%.

Looks excellent and text is so much more solid vibrant on 1440P. 1080P does look fuzzy @ 27", I recently bought a 27" 1080p which was very nice, but after side by side comparison has been relegated to the spare room with the PS3 lol.

1440P is stunning for gaming imho. BF3 @ 1440P Ultra = thing of beauty :p
