Anybody got a Sound Blaster PLAY! 3 or suggest something else?

For years I've had a Creative E3 plugged into my PC and it's smashed so I need a replacement however I also have a different need.
Not only do I want to play the sounds coming from my PC but I want to be able to plug a device into it and play that through the PC.
I've noticed the PLAY! 3 has a Mic Input and obviously you should also be able to put a line input into it.

Has anybody tried this?

Or can you suggest another USB soundcard where I can but not too expensive.

This morning I bought this
Sound BlasterX G6 (B-Stock) £74.99

Just to add what I really wanted it for:
Even though I have an expensive Focusrite Audio Interface all I want to do is play a bit of music in VLC and then plug either my synth or guitar into an input so I can then hear it all together.
At the moment I either have to fire up the Focusrite with a DAW or play my keyboards/guitar in my left ear while the PC plays the music.
Hopefully the G6 will do the job plus I should have an excellent USB DAC Soundcard.

Came today, it is excellent.
great sound and I can blast outr a song on VLC while plugging in a guiter/synth in the line input without loading all my other software.
